Progress
Approximately 25% of what was planned for the New Approach has been delivered to end users already. This means that the majority of track workers now have access to their rules in the form of more portable handbooks rather than modules. From tranche 4 onwards the emphasis of the programme shifts towards changes for other key groups such as signallers and train drivers.
Current progress
- Tranches 1 to 3 implemented on schedule
- Tranche 1 post implementation review completed
- Tranches 4 – 5 signed off and preparing for roll out
- Tranche 6 scheduled to start industry consultation
- Tranche 7 end user workshops in progress
Size of Rule Book reduced by 43% (450 pages) for modules covered under tranches 1 – 6.
Future milestones
The important programme milestones for the remainder of this year are:
- Jul 13 -tranche 6 consultation (closes Aug 23)
- Jul 27 - tranche 4/5 rules/ briefing content finalised
- Jul 29 - tranche 4/5 material distributed to industry
- Sep 1 - start tranche 8 drafting
- Oct 11 - TOMSC tranche 6 sign off
- Nov 28 - commence tranche 8 end user workshops
- Dec 1 - start tranche 9 drafting
- Dec 12 - tranche 4/5 implementation.
